Perfume Collection

It’s been sooooooo long since I’ve written a blog post so I feel a bit rusty. My other laptop died and recently I was fortunate enough to be gifted a chromebook as an early Christmas present, so here I am! I’m back with quite a lengthy post — I hope you don’t mind.

Perfume collection posts are some of my favorites to read so I decided to do mine. To some I have too many perfumes and to others I have a tiny collection. Overall I’m extremely pleased with what I have and don’t plan on adding anymore to my miniature hoard

EDP = Eau de Parfum

EDT = Eau de Toilette

In lay mans terms, EDP’s are stronger and last longer than EDT which have a higher alcohol content. All EDT’s are not created equal. Some fade away within an hour while others can rival a parfum in longevity. In general I prefer Eau de Parfums, but it’s not a deal breaker for me if a beautiful fragrance is only available as an EDT.
*The notes and accords listed below are from Fragrantica, which is one of my favorite fragrance websites! All other opinions are mine, of course!

CHANEL CHANCE eau Fraiche (EDT) — woody, citrus, aromatic, floral, musky
Notes — Lemon, Cedar, Water Hyacinth, Pink Pepper, Velvetier, Teak Wood, White Musk, Jasmine, Patchouli

This fragrance is very sporty and fresh — a perfect daytime scent. This was my signature scent for a few years and it will always be one of my favorites. To me this has a unisex feel, which is what I love most about it. It lasts quite long considering it’s an EDT.

CHANEL CHANCE Eau Tendre (EDT) — floral, citrus, fruity, sweet, white floral, fresh spicy
Notes —  Quince, Grapefruit, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Musk, Iris, Virginia Cedar, Amber

My favorite of my entire collection. I find this one somewhat difficult to describe. It’s very feminine, floral, and just sweet enough. I would wear this day or night and any time of year although it would probably be best suited for spring/summer.

PRADA CANDY (EDP) — caramel, musky, balsamic, sweet, warm spicy
Notes — Caramel, Benzoin, Musk

I’ve described this scent as a warm caramel hug. It smells absolutely gorgeous! It’s a very straightforward gourmand fragrance. The longevity is moderate, but at such a high price I wish it would last a bit longer. Candy smells expensive and makes you feel put together. I will definitely repurchase when I finish this bottle.
GUCCI GUILTY (EDT) — floral, soft spicy, sweet, patchouli, fruity, amber

Notes — Lilac, Pink Pepper, Peach, Patchouli, Amber, Mandarin Orange, Geranium

Guilty is a very sexy perfume. I think of it as a night time scent. Although it is an EDT, the longevity and sillage are definitely above average. Two sprays would be enough to last you an entire night out. It’s spicy and floral without being overbearing.

BVLGARI OMNIA CRYSTALLINE (EDT) — woody, floral, green, ozonic, musky
Notes — Lotus, Musk, Tea, Bamboo, Guaiac Wood, Oakmoss, Pear, Cassis

A very clean, fresh, woody scent! My only complaint is the longevity is pretty low… I usually keep this in my handbag as a freshen up scent.

BVLGARI OMNIA AMETHYSTE (EDT) — floral, powdery, woody,

Notes — Heliotrope, Iris, Woodsy Notes, Bulgarian Rose, Green Notes, Grapefruit

It took a while for Omnia Amethyste to grow on me but when she did I was hooked. The top notes are very “purple” — smelling of iris and grapes. The dry down has a beautiful powdery note that I can’t get enough of. I usually spray this on myself at night time before bed.

GIORGIO ARMANI ACQUA di GIOIA (EDP) — citrus, aromatic, green, sweet, white floral, fresh spicy
Notes — Amalfi Lemon, Mint, Sugar, Jasmine, Virginia Cedar, Peony, Pink Pepper, French Labdanum

I have mixed emotions about this fragrance. It’s quite beautiful but the top notes are a bit strong and can be a little overwhelming. My favorite thing about Aqcua di Gioia is how the scent changes over time. The longevity is above average.
VERSACE BRIGHT CRYSTAL (EDT) — floral, citrus, aquatic, fresh, woody
Notes — Yuzu, Peony, Pomegranate, Lotus, Magnolia, Water Notes, Musk, Mahogany, Amber

Bright Crystal is absolutely gorgeous! A sweet floral scent that brings many compliments from others. My only complaint is the longevity. After I finish this bottle I plan on purchasing Bright Crystal Absolu, which is the Eau de Parfum version.
VERSACE YELLOW DIAMOND (EDT) — citrus, floral, sweet, fresh, aquatic
Notes — Amalfi lemon, Mimosa, Pear, Freesia, Bergamot, Water lily, Neroli, African Orange Flower, Musk, Guaiac Wood, Amber

This is a very fresh citrus scent that is quite reminiscent of Bright Crystals in its delicacy. The longevity isn’t the greatest and I plan on purchasing Yellow Diamond Intense, the Eau de Parfum, when my bottle runs out.

VERA WANG PRINCESS (EDT) — vanilla, sweet, cacao, fruity, white floral
Notes — Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Guava, Tiare Flower, Water Lily, Woodsy Notes, Apricot, Amber, Tuberose, Apple, Mandarin Orange

Princess is very feminine and easily liked, which is probably why it’s such a popular fragrance. I would consider this a daytime scent.

JUICY COUTURE VIVA LA JUICY (EDP) — sweet, white floral, caramel, vanilla, citrus, fruity
Notes —  Caramel, Vanilla, Praline, Mandarin Orange, Honeysuckle, Wild Berries, Gardenia, Jasmine, Amber, Sandalwood

I absolutely adore Viva La Juicy! Expect compliments from complete strangers when wearing this beauty. Not too sweet, and not too floral. The longevity and sillage are fabulous!

EXPRESS WITH LOVE (EDP) — fruity, sweet, vanilla, white floral, floral

Notes — Pineapple, Vanilla, Blackberry, Musk, Black Currant, Jasmine, Lily-of-the-Valley, Tiare Flower, Iris, Mandarin Orange, Sandalwood

Love Express is very sweet and fruity. The longevity is moderate. It was given to me by a dear friend so it has a sentimental component that makes me love even more.

VICTORIA SECRET HEAVENLY (EDP) — floral, powdery, musky, vanilla, warm spicy, woody
Notes — Musk, Vanilla, Cardamom, Peony, Sandalwood, Ivy, Orchid, Iris, Freesia, Quince, Lotus, Violet, Mandarin Orange
Heavenly was my signature scent in college and smelling this fragrance sends me back in time. It is musky with plenty of vanilla — not something I usually go for these days.

LADIES ON A BUDGET PLEASE READ:
I never, let me repeat that, NEVER pay full price for perfume. Usually I get mine from Perfumania, Ross, TJ Maxx, or Ulta. The first three stores mentioned sell perfume at discounted prices. Lucky for me I have an Ulta across the street from both of them so here’s what I do… I go to TJ Maxx and Ross and see what they have, see what sparks my eye, or check out something that I’ve heard about. Then I haul ass over to Ulta and smell their testers. Finally I go back to make my purchases knowing that I like what I’m buying. I pretty much never buy cold based on others recommendations. To me that’s crazy! Lastly I buy really high end perfume like Chanel from Ulta using my 20% off coupons. I’m a VIP member (which basically means you spend too much damn money there) and one of the perks is the coupons can be used on fragrance (sometimes).

MY TOP 6
Chanel Chance eau Tendre
Chanel Chance eau Fraiche
Prada Candy
Versace Bright Crystal
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy
Gucci Guilty

So I guess that’s it for my perfume collection. I tried to keep each description quite brief and to be perfectly honest, I’m not the best at describing scents. I tend to like woody, fresh, and some floral fragrances. A lot of patchouli is a big no-no for me.

Do you have any of the same perfumes?
