Urban Decay Mariposa Palette — Mini Review and Swatches

Rockstar, Gunmetal, Skimp, Infamous, Wreckage, Haight, Money, Mushroom, Spotlight, Limelight

I’ve had this palette for at least a year and never reviewed it… but while looking at the Urban Decay website I saw that this baby was still available and decided to do a mini review. It’s is VERY discounted on their website for only $12!!!

When I purchased it, I must admit, I was sucked in by two colors… Rockstar and Mushroom. And they did not disappoint! Here’s a little breakdown of all the shades.

ROCKSTAR — is a beautiful aubergine purple. The texture is beautiful — very smooth and pigmented.

GUNMETAL —  a dark gray with silver glitter. Nice texture but when applied to the eye, it is a bit lighter than in the pan. The color sheers out more than I expected. This shade is also in the Naked Palette.

SKIMP — pinky beige with a slight sheen. Skimp is a little powdery and a bit sheer. Not one I reach for.

INFAMOUS — bright fuchsia with a satin finish. This shadow is VERY dry and I found it difficult to get a good swatch.  Aside from that, the color is just not my taste whatsoever.

WRECKAGE — medium golden brown with golden shimmer. This one is beautiful! Very buttery and looks absolutely gorgeous when worn by itself on the lid. This one does have a lot of glitter and a fair amount of fallout, so beware!

HAIGHT — a frosty medium dark turquoise blue. I find this one to be a tiny bit dry… although the color is not something I would typically wear, I think it is a nice eyeshadow overall.

MONEY — a blue/green silver with a frost finish. Definitly a unique color, but I find this one to be overly frosty.

MUSHROOM — a dark frosty taupe. Definitely my favorite color of the palette and the main reason I purchased it to begin with. This eyeshadow is beautiful!!

SPOTLIGHT — a champagne bronze that has insane amounts of chunky glitter. The payoff is horrible and the fallout is unbearable.

LIMELIGHT — a coppery gold with gold shimmer and glitter. Dry texture and fallout from the depths of hell. This one reminded me of some of the really bad Lustre finish eyeshadows by MAC.

So is this palette worth it? Well for $12 I would say, oh yeah! One Urban Decay eyeshadow costs $18USD and this palette of 10 is quite a bit less.

HITS: Rockstar, Wreckage, Mushroom, Gunmetal

SO-SO’s: Haight, Money, Skimp

OH GOD NO’s: Limelight, Spotlight, Infamous

Do you have the Mariposa Palette? What is your favorite Urban Decay palette?
